Storytelling with Diane Macklin: Kindergartners begin "mini-residency"
On Monday, March 21st, the entire RHPS student body saw storyteller Diane Macklin in action. She presented "Magnificent Folks, Animals and Other Such Tales" during two morning assemblies. Later that day, Artist-in-Residence workshops began for the kindergartners, who received in-depth instruction in dramatic play and collaborative storytelling during the week of March 21st and Monday, March 28th.

Second Grade Study Opera during Cultural Arts Residency
Last year's second-graders had the opportunity to work with vocal artist Yvette Lewis to learn and perform opera. Yes, opera!
Last winter, our students engaged in the production of a classic story as told through that musical art form.
The second-graders worked together to foster collaboration
as they incorporated themes of rhythm and pattern into both musical
and accompanying dance explorations. Under the guidance of teaching
artist Yvette Lewis, our students learned about the
artistic and technical elements of opera in a way that is fun, appealing
and understandable to children.
RHPS Welcomed ClancyWorks Dance Company!
Last November, ClancyWorks Dance conducted a series of dance workshops with our 1st grade students. The program focused on RHYTHM and was designed to excite students about the possibilities of dance. A wide range of dance styles were introduced, including modern dance, ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop, step and partnering techniques.
